City Assessing Damage from Dolly

The City of Brownsville is collecting damage assessment information on its website. Damages to your property may be submitted at or e-mailed at

However, the online form does not state how the information will be utilized. I believe the info will be provided to FEMA so that it could be decided whether or not to declare our area a Category C Disaster. Category C allows for individual assistance from FEMA. A Category B Disaster Declaration was made for South Texas, which allows for FEMA assistance for damages to government/public property.

For general FEMA information, call the FEMA HOTLINE - 1-800-621-3362.

The BISD has called a special meeting at 5:30 today to consider nominations of individuals to honor with the name of a new school.

Mrs. Mittie Pullam - the BISD's first African-American principal and educator, a fantastic teacher, role model, and inspiration to hundreds, is being nominated for this honor.

More than 1,000 individuals have signed the petition to honor Mrs. Pullam with a school. We have also received letters of support from as far away as Washington D.C.

However, it is the BISD that will make this decision soon. We invite everyone to come support this amazing, deserving nominee today!

Our committee's website with pictures, biography, and online petition is
