The Red Mass is celebrated annually at the opening of the judicial year. Historically, it has been attended by judges, lawyers, law faculty members and public officials. The mass originated in Europe in the thirteenth century and receives its name from the fact that the celebrant was vested in red and the Lord High Justices were robed in brilliant scarlet.

Enclosed please find two (2) tickets for the banquet, make checks payable to the Red Mass Committee. Seating is limited, please make your reservations. The chances of a lightning strike just grew to 99%. I won't be anywhere near this laughable crowd. Maybe they should have called it the "Hypocrites" Mass?
All the prayers in the world won't help those attendees. I'm sure they will head out to the Vermillion afterwards, throw back some beers, and talk dirt about their colleagues.
