It's night and day improvement, but there is still room for more. The individual department pages haven't changed much, so hopefully they're still working on that.

I think it needs a section that highlights Brownsville's role in the state's and nation's history, showcases some of the historical buildings, and has links to the various historical organizations.

And it definitely needs a purposely educational component to it, something students can use to learn about municipal government.

Cosmetic changes only, not worth the expense.
By the way, what did it cost?

It's prettier, but there's no better information or organization. The City Secretary's page says go to Public Information to find a form to request information. Of course, there is no Public Information Office page listed with departments. Instead, it's a subpage of the City Manager's page.

And no form is available there.

So much with cosmetics in this city. So little with substance.

Stop whinning,
there is still room for improvement,
if you need to place a request email the city secretary.

Maybe that was whiney (as opposed to say, bitchy, as with your comment, anon.), but the time and effort on cosmetics alone is not justification for the expense unless, as the hopeful part of us might think, it is the first phase of a overhaul that tackles functionality. The city's Web site ought to be a useful tool for city workers and citizens alike, not just a PR tool as likely used to mask information and shenanigans as to be used to achieve civic transparency.
