TODAY: Watch President Obama's Live Address to Schools

Whether you like it or not, President Obama IS the leader of this great nation. I don't understand the big deal folks are making about watching his 11 a.m. address to America's students.

His prepared remarks are already posted. Click here.

Here's an excerpt:

I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.

But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.

Hi there, nice blog!

Thanks for putting up the speech. It is a shame that several schools did not show Pres. Obama's speech, especially since there has been no problem with presidents in the past addressing students.

I just started a blog to highlight the health care & immigration reform campaigns in the Valley and I've linked your blog to our blog. Take a look and feel free to add us to your blog!

Thanks so much,

I believe the problem was based on his wanting to get the children to write how they could help the president. Under the deluge of health care/insurance rebukes, Obama's choice (and later dropping) of using children to help him seemed like he was going to use them to help him take back the health care issue. That was the issue. Nothing else.

It's one thing to be elected. It's another to lead the country. With the proper marketing, I believe a ham sandwich could get elected. Exibit A...tkinson.

Thank you for responding to my comment down below and blogging again. I always knew this was a good way to stay in touch with your district and out of district constituents.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for supporting Obama . . .

You should consider networking with the moms in the bizymoms Brownsville community. I am sure there are several moms who would like to give their ideas on this

A burning question that I must ask myself and you guys;

How much less "contra" would there have been if only "the white half" of Obama was showing?

I hope we can get past this unfounded fear of the unknown and realise the great destiny awaiting our next genaration of inspired doers.... Read More

That is if we can just get past watching the world through the round screen of old black and white TVs and fear set minds.

As mentioned above, the big stink came from the "lesson plan" that was sent out to go along with the speech. But, hey, starting to indoctrinate the children is not a new idea. It worked for Adolph. Just wait until he proposes forming the "Obama Youth."
